Melted-Metal Flown Medals - 108 total

The “melted-metal” are made from metal flown in space and were melted or blended with other metals in the making of the medallion. Each medal generally contain very minute levels of the flown material. These were made for NASA in general or some project office, along with other space related companies for employees and VIPs for special events or end of a project. They were not usually for sale to the general public. Also they almost all state they contain flown metal on the medallion themselves. If not, they require a COA or LOA to prove their provenance, such as the Apollo 11 30th anniversary medals.  I have further catagorized these as MFA/SFA's, Flown and Frame Sets, .

MFA/SFA's - 16 total

These “melted-metal” medallions were produced for the Manned Flight Awareness(MFA) office and later the Space Flight Awareness(SFA) office and given out as awards and gifts to emplyees and special guests.

Flown - 87 total

These “melted-metal” medallions are similar to the MFA/SFA's but made for different areas of NASA and their contractors. Some of the later medals were sold to the general public.

Frame Sets - 5 total

These Frames Sets were made by Winco International and each contain 1 special edition “melted-metal”  medallion.
