The Iron of the Faceless Man, flown to the edge of space! In February of 2015 we sponsored a stratospheric balloon flight to the edge of space, the upper stratosphere. In return for our sponsorship the student groups Earth to Sky Calculus lofted a payload for us, and set a camera to record video of the payload during the entire journey. Our payload consisted of a triangular kydex card mounted with ten serial numbered examples of The Iron Coin of the Faceless Man, from the ninth pressing. The serial numbers are stamped into each coin... a small numeral on the reverse side of the coin, at the bottom of the large "V". The balloon reached 112,000 feet altitude, over 21 miles, at the very edge of space! After recovery of the payload from its crashdown site in the desert, the coins were returned to us, complete with the video files of the entire journey.

Serial number one went to George R.R. Martin for his personal collection. The other nine are being auctioned here on eBay, beginning with #10 and proceeding upward in numbers, with the next one being posted each week. We have created special collector / display packaging for these... a serial numbered DVD-size slip case that can shelve alongside your Game of Thrones collection, with a 16 page color booklet featuring information and photos from the flight. The coin itself is encased in a plastic "slab" with a card signed by George R.R. Martin himself. It also comes with a fragment of the balloon that carried it aloft, and a 16gb USB drive filled with more images and video files of the mission.
